Will mission-focused copy increase fee coverage?

Hypothesis

This experiment tested whether shifting the GiftAssist prompt from functional fee language to mission-focused language—and replacing “Add” with “Help”—encouraged more donors to cover fees without reducing donation completion.

Duration

7 days

Timing

July 21–28, 2026

Audience

Nonprofits using eligible Standard Donation Forms with GiftAssist enabled and the default, non-customized fee-coverage prompt.

Group split

Supporters were split evenly: half saw the current default copy, and half saw the mission-focused version. Every other form element stayed the same.

What this means for you

Keep your current fee-coverage copy with confidence. 'Add' and 'Help' performed the same, so Bloomerang's sticking with 'Add' as the default.

Key results

The mission-focused version produced a 62.42% fee-coverage rate, compared with 61.36% for the current copy. Conversion was nearly identical. Both measures increased slightly, but neither difference was statistically meaningful.

Segment insights

The test included organizations using eligible Standard Donation Forms—including text-to-donate—with GiftAssist enabled and the standard default prompt.

Conclusion

The tested wording didn’t produce a clear lift in fee coverage or conversion, so the current copy remains the default.

No meaningful change
