Key Nonprofit Highlights

Located at Arizona State University’s Tempe campus, the All Saints Catholic Newman Center is a hub for spiritual growth and Catholic campus ministry. They offer Christ-centered activities for students and faculty to deepen faith, develop leaders, and share the Gospel. The Center faced challenges with fundraising due to a young, digitally-inclined congregation. After struggling with a previous donation solution, they implemented Bloomerang Fundraising’s online and kiosk giving platforms. This switch enabled seamless digital donations, aligning with the students’ preferences. As a result, weekly tithes and recurring donations grew significantly. In just eight months, the Center raised $47,000, with $8,000 raised in the first month alone, allowing for the expansion of campus programs.

Challenge

How to enable giving for students with limited resources

The Catholic Newman Center’s congregation is mainly composed of younger donors with limited resources and digital tendencies. The Center previously implemented a different online donation solution, but it produced insignificant fundraising results, and the collected offerings covered only half of the cost of running its programs. Ministry directors were eager to implement a giving solution that enabled students, alumni, and faculty to donate digitally through a broad cross-platform solution. After researching available online and mobile giving options, the Catholic Newman Center decided on the online and kiosk giving platforms offered by Bloomerang Fundraising.

Solution

Bloomerang Fundraising: Online giving for a mobile-first generation

“Bloomerang Fundraising provided us with the means to reach out to the young people we serve,” said James Timberlake, Development Director for the Catholic Newman Center. “Our young members are part of a generation that relies on credit cards, making the traditional passing of the plate an increasingly inefficient way for us to raise funds. We are committed to offering our community every opportunity possible to invest and become part of our mission, which is why it has been so gratifying to see people frequently giving via the Bloomerang Fundraising kiosk and online portal.”

Results

Boosting donations by thousands to expand campus programs

Since partnering with Bloomerang Fundraising, the Catholic Newman Center has seen a significant increase in weekly tithes, as well as a recurring donation forecast exceeding $2,000 per month. Success surrounding recurring donations has far exceeded any expectations the church had originally and has allowed the Center to significantly expand its campus programs. In the first eight months after opening its on-campus facility, the Catholic Newman Center raised $47,000 in donations, with $8,000 raised in the first month alone.

The Center is a perfect example of achieving success with the online donation tools and mobile solutions available from Bloomerang Fundraising. In the ever-evolving nonprofit sector, Bloomerang’s Giving Platform partners with organizations to embrace the importance of modern technologies, stay relevant with donors, and effectively engage all supporters.
